Welcome to the World of Classroom Technology

My name is Clay White and I am a Instructional Technology Specialist for the El Paso Independent School District.  Specifically, I am in charge of training teachers in the Bowie feeder pattern (Bowie HS, Guillen MS, Armendariz MS, Aoy Elementary, Beall Elementary, Douglass Elementary, Hart Elementary, and Vilas Elementary).    My training involves educating teachers on how to integrate technology into their classroom.  I train teachers so that they can use the latest technology to motivate students and improve their education experience.

Aoy "Cuisine Team" Photo Story Project

The Aoy Elementary School "Cuisine Team" recently put on their chef's uniforms and created a culinary feast for their parents.  The "Cuisine Team" is a program (directed by Adrian Flores (assisted by Lynda Flores)) that engages students in the culinary arts by having them create health meals using the "Cuisine Team" cook book.  The team members not only learn how to cook, but the also re-enforce their math and reading skills.  They also learn to work in groups to problem solve.  The event was documented by taking digital images and using Photo Story to create a digital story telling project.  It was quick and easy.  Another great example of how to integrate digital story telling into your curriculum.  Watch the Cuisine Team 2011 video.

        Google Earth Expands Instructional Opportunities!!

Many educators are familiar with the Google suite of internet tools.  Gmail, Google Docs, Picasa, and so on.  By far the most powerful educational tool created by Google is Google Earth.  This amazing program enables teachers, and students to explore the entire planet (as well as Mars) from their classrooms.  Google Earth can provide teachers with a cross-curricular educational tool that can completely immerse students into an otherwise mundane lesson.  Google Earth is free for everyone.  Go to the Google Earth download center and install the program.  I have placed a couple of great Google Earth lessons on my Instuctional Materials pages.  If you need any help with installing the program or implementing the lessons, please let me know.
